APPARENTLY DOTHAN WANTED TO BURY INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE QUESTIONING POLICE CHIEF STEVE PARRISH FOR SEVERAL HOURS LAST WEEK. THE STORY WAS HELD UNTIL THE FRIDAY BEFORE EASTER.
Parrish admitted during Friday’s statement that he had been questioned about the Kharon Davis debacle when he (met as he called it) I think it was more like he was interrogated and questioned by the DOJ. If the DOJ go to the courthouse next, they should be aware that allegedly shredders have been working overtime….nothing that a few lie detector tests wouldn’t uncover. Dothan could throw their own ticker tape parade with the shredded mess.
If that was the case, why did some Houston County Commissioners, Dothan Mayor Schmitdz and Kenny Glascow urgently fly to Washington within the past 2 weeks; allegedly attempting to derail the many complaints already filed with the Department of Justice about Dothan. Or was the Dothan contingent seeking to limit the scope and depth of a potential DOJ investigation. Our take on that sudden Washington trip was that they took their token black man to tell the DOJ that what they had been advised regarding blacks being targeted by the Dothan Police and Judicial system, was not true, and they used Glascow to deliver that message.
Parrish’s posse have been driving throughout the state seeking out anyone who had complained about mistreatment at the hands of Dothan PD. Rickey Stokes was even seen videoing car tags of those who had met with the NAACP and other community activists while they were in meeting seeking to bring their stories forward. Parrish admitted during this video interview/press conference that many of the victims they have spoken to have not cooperated with the police when questioned. If I was a victim of police misconduct, the last people I would want to tell about the misconduct, based on the environment as it stands in Dothan, is the Dothan Police Department.
Don’t know if the alleged DOJ employees that met with Parrish are from within Alabama or out of Washington, but we would not be comfortable trusting any type of investigation originating within Alabama. Politicians and those in positions of authority have shown they are unable to police themselves or any other members of their political affiliation.
